Vacay

This past week I want to Corolla beach with the husband's fam. I marked the occasion by debuting my new swimsuit, the reminder of which is the halter Maillot-shaped sunburn I'm sporting.

Overhauls

My great uncle Lunny (short for Lunsford, of course) wore bib overalls everyday of his life and was buried in them. I don't think he actually called them overhauls, but it seems like an old country sort of term. I really have always loved overalls and was rather sad when I thought their death knell sounded in the 90s. Unlike this alarming Birkenstocks trend ( who knows, though, I tend to ultimately love things I start out hating) I am very glad they are making their way back. Hubs spotted this pair at the Marshalls for $50 and I totes scooped them when they went for $25. My research has lead me to the conclusion that they used to cost $172 at South Moon Under, so not a bad acquisition.

A once and a future outfit

On the far left is the outfit I wore to work last week with the back of the outfit on the far right. In the middle is what I intend to wear to our second wedding of the season-Eric's cousin Phil and his lovely future wife Stacey- but I can't find a maxi skirt in red, coral or pink with either a tulip, fishtail or tulip bottom. It really is maddening. I want something that is as dramatic as that peplum, which is the most expensive shirt I've ever owned and consequently I feel compelled to wear it as much as possible without crossing into eccentric territory.

After Sunday Morning

This is last Sunday, actually. This Sunday I wore my excellent Octopus shirt (post forthcoming!) for brunch and then mostly loafed around in a duffel sweater and some glow-in-the dark men's underpants (with a bug print, no less!) that I bought on sale at Target. This is my outfit from last weekend. Same shirt as Saturday, no less!

Haute Hippie

What's that in my hand, you ask? Why it's a copy of Flying too High, the second tale of the incomparable Phryne Fisher, gifted to me by my sweet husband. Seriously, these books and the series based on them (streaming on Netflix and Acorn!) are both amazing!! There will be a whole slew of Phryne inspired outfits/ gushing posts forthcoming, I'm sure. This day, however, I was still feeling boho. And I survived a whole workday in those heels, THE BEST heels I've ever had. Sarah and I went in on a "buy three get a discount deal" for them like six years ago and I will take them to South African Rod Stewart (he is the best shoe guy, DE/PA people) to be repaired until they literally splinter to bits.

Wear Something Blue

Being forced to dress myself, as I needed to return some shoes and wearing a silk nightgown to the Concord mall would cause QUITE a stir, I took my dear friend Carolyn's advice and inspired myself with the color BLUE. I have been very into Free People boho chic recently and this definitely had a bearing on my ensem as well. I grabbed the first blue thing in my closet, this weird, ( and I found out in the lighting of a Boscov's dressing room) VERY sheer midi dress became a top over my favorite day-off jeans, tied up to show off my scrubby knees.
